Archival institutions in Indonesia, as we know it today, there is already a de facto since 28 January 1892, when the Netherlands Indies Government established Landarchief. During the movement of nationalism nationalities in Indonesia, especially in 1926-1929, Netherlands Indies Government tried to deflect and reject the demands of independent Indonesia. In the framework of the rejection, Lansarchief got a special task: to participate actively in the work of scientific historical writing for the Netherlands East Indies, as well as overseeing and securing relics the Netherlands. During the occupation of Japan was a lonely childhood in the world of archives, because at that time hardly bequeathed a legacy archives.
